Abstract

With a small number of available researches done on the reading frequency, reading preference, and preferred medium of high school students' age group especially in the context of Holy Family Academy(HFA), descriptive research was done through focus group interviews to determine any information regarding the said activity. The study with the help of 32 participants, who were randomly chosen per year level, yielded the following results : (1) Most HFA students read at least once a week. It means that most of them can read within said time but not often as to read once a day or not too rare that they barely read. It also means that all HFA students read any form of material; (2) All HFA students engage in leisurely reading with romance as the most preferred genre. It may imply that aside from academic reading, students still indulge in extracurricular reading and that those students prefer a more sexual approach to that activity. Despite that, some students still read other informative texts not prescribed by the school; and (3) Students still choose to read in both printed and non-printed media, with a little more preference for digital materials. It may say that despite recent technological booms, there are still students who read on paper.
