Occurrence of Code Switching and Code Mixing in Academic Oral Performance of Familians
Abstract
The recent policy implementation in Holy Family Academy is the English Only Policy in which the students are required to speak in English. This study aims to explore Code Switching and Code Mixing a communication tools in classroom activities. The significance of this study is to know if students often use Code Switching and Code Mixing when they are reciting in class and to know if Code Switching and Code Mixing are helping them in their performance in class and if the teachers can help them to understand the lessons to communicate with them easily. To guide our study, we present the following research questions: (1) When do students code switch and code mix? (2) Why do students code switch and code mix? (3) How do code switching and code mixing aid in communicating in the classroom?
