A Qualitative Study on the Awareness of Senior High School Students of Holy Family Academy Regarding Mental Health
Abstract
Mental Health is one of the most sensitive and most talked about topics in the Philippines nowadays. As stated by the U.S. Department of Health and Humand Service(2017), includes one's emotional, psychological, and social well-being. There have been plenty of misconceptions and stigmas that students misunderstand about mental health. This study aims to explain this problem. This current research aims to examine the awareness of students about mental health, to know if students are aware of the difference between mental health and mental issues, and to determine how aware are the students regarding the importance of mental health awareness. The researchers made use of phenomenology research as the design for this study and made their questionnaires. The respondents are the senior high school students of Holy Family Academy. And, it proved that the majority of the students are aware of what mental health is, by definition, and that most students also know that there is a difference between mental health had mental issues. Prevention of mental issues is also the most prevalent importance of mental health awareness.
