Title
A Comparative Analysis on Introvert and Extrovert Students Towards Their Speaking Skills
Abstract
Speaking skills play an important factor in our everyday lives especially in a social setting similar to that of a school environment. Every day, students are tasked to partake in group activities, recitations, and various activities that requires some form of communication. However, people usually have a distinct personality which directly correlate on how they communicate with their peers and other people. These two personality types are Extroverts and Introverts. In Holy Family Academy, it is present during classes that some students often participate in these activities more than others. There even tends to be a huge gap in grades when it comes to activities like role plays, recitation points and such. The research aims to evaluate and analyze the two personality types and how their roles may play a part or affect a student's speaking skill inside the classroom and if there appears to be any major significant differences. Then relaying this information to teachers and students alike for possible assessment. The research was conducted by first accurately determining their personality type using a MBTI questionnaire and surveying students based on the simple random sampling technique. After that, they were given a questionnaire made by the researchers regarding the students speaking skills inside the classroom. The chosen respondents were 40 students from the grade 11 students of Holy Family Academy, separated into 20 students per introverts and extroverts. The results from the data gathered concluded that although they take equal parts in recitations, it tends to rely on how confident they are feeling. Introverts also prefer a more teacher-centered discussion while extroverts prefer a more activity-centered way of learning. Both parties also believe that they have more room for improvement in their speaking skills and confidence plays a major role in this factor.
