Perfectionism and its Impact on Grade 11 High School Students
Abstract
Perfectionism is one of the primary sources of mental health problems. This is due to the fact that perfectionism is associated with stress, depression, suicidal ideation, and the feeling of self-inadequacy. However, it is already a part of the daily lives of some individuals and its disadvantages are oftentimes overlooked until is already too late. although it is also connected to having high academic performance, these benefits alone are outnumbered by several complications.
This research focuses on the impact of perfectionism on grade 11 students. The researchers deliberately chose five senior high school students who posses some characteristics of being a perfectionist. The goal of the researchers conducting this study is to shed light on the aforementioned topic and to provide ways on how to lessen percfectionism. The result showed that most of the respondents opt to lessen the degree of their perfectionism. in addition to this, the result indicated that event if the respondents are aware of the disadvantages of being perfectionist, most of the respondets still chose to remain the same because of its benefits in the term of their academic performance.
