The Dreams of High School Seniors at Holy Family Academy: Its Interpretation in Clinical Psychology
Abstract
This research paper is entitled "The Dreams of High School Seniors at Holy Family Academy: Its Interpretation in Clinical Psychology. A dream refers to the language of our subconscious mind. They contain our fears, hopes, frustrations, desires and aspirations. They impart us vital information about ourselves, our environment and people around us. They warn us of things that will happen in the future, as well as remind us of events that occurred in the past and presented often in symbols that cannot be easily understood by our conscious mind.
The hub of the study is to gain knowledge about what dreams are, why they transpire, their value to our life and how to interpret them properly. The findings of the study may benefit the students, the populace and the elderly. The study was conducted among the Senior High School students of Holy Family Academy in Cutcut, Angeles City at some point during the second semester of the Academic year 2004 - 2005. In selecting the 58 respondents from the total populace, probability sampling was suitable to use so that all respondents will have an equal prospect to be included in the sample size. The researchers chose the systematic sampling, a scheme in selecting members from a system of randomly selected nth respondents. The stratified random sampling was utilized to opt for samples in such a way that precise subgroups will have an adequate number of senior students for every section that was included in the sample size.
In the Socio-demographic profile of the respondents, females comprise a large amount of frequency distribution, with an average age of 16 years old. On the typical dreams of the respondents, being frozen with fright, seeing insects and spiders, being an animal, and encountering a kind of evil force or demon occurred "always" as rated by the respondents. The Relation of Dreams in Peoples' daily lives, Unconsciousness and Mass Media should be paid attention to since these are the factors that take place unto why people dream. The interpretation of images that appear in dreams needs a closer look. Images that appear in dreams are most noteworthy because the message hidden in the dream personally affects the dreamer.
Despite the fact that majority of the respondents stated that dreams can enable
students to solve their problems they should further concentrate on what dreams really interpret based on Clinical Psychology.
