Title
Using Plastic Waste a Substitution for Gravel in making Pavement such as Sidewalks
Abstract
The research is about the usage of plastic waste materials to construct an eco-friendly pavement such as sidewalks. The researchers want to prove that plastic is not just a waste that makes the world filthy. Plastic is made for a lot of reasons wherein it can be used for packing but the researchers thought of a greater way to utilize it. The idea is to use plastic waste in making roads but due to the inconvenience of the sources and help from Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the alternative research which is to use plastic as a substitute for gravel in making a sidewalk. The kind of sidewalk that the researchers will construct is an improved pavement wherein it prevents flood or water stocking because it has a tube that serve as drainage. The materials used are 1 bag NCC cement, 1 pc Def bar 9mm, 2 pcs PVC elbow 3/4 blue, plastic waste materials, shredder, forming wood, and tape measure (Construction). The plastic sidewalk is tested by comparing the weight of the object and the weight of a person that steps on it. It is proven that plastic waste materials can be helpful in making pavements. The sidewalk is also proven to be durable and eco-friendly.
