In effect of Proclamation No. 109, s. 1936, the week of 24-30 November of each year was declared “National Book Week”. And with the leadership of the Philippine Librarians Association Inc., the National Library of the Philippines (NLP), and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts – National Committee on Libraries and Information Services (NCCA-NCLIS), the chosen theme of this year’s celebration will be “Basa. Bayan. Bukas”
The chosen theme reflects the value of books and reading for the betterment of the nation and our future.
Through reading materials, especially locally published ones, everyone will get to know more about their Filipino identity and how they can shape themselves for the future of their beloved nation. The weeklong celebration will showcase the vast value of reading in every Filipino’s life with the help of active publishing, writers, libraries, and librarians.
As a participant in this celebration, the HFA IMC has prepared activities and contests that aim to convey the values of this national celebration to their students.

Grade 7: – My Own Library Space Contest
The purpose of the “My Own Library Space Contest” is to introduce the youth to printed materials and the importance of good literature that cannot be undermined.
Meaningful engagement in reading can be initiated and strengthened by providing them with opportunities to read books according to their age, context, and interests.
This contest aims to encourage the community to read and collect different types of reading materials in their home.
