Education plays a big role in the development of a person. It is a fundamental key for reaching the biggest success in everyone’s life and attaining the world’s creative knowledge. According to Budhiati (2019), education is an activity that has been present since the earliest stages of human civilization, as it serves as an important component of an individual’s social environment. In other words, education can elevate one’s social status. Just like in the economy, if a person’s education is high or graduated from a prestigious university, he will be respected in the community. This phenomenon gives rise to a level inside society that functions as the basis of someone’s social status (Longe, 2012). In that case, education is one of the contributors that causes social start-up in society because it plays a role in the classification of individuals based on their social standing or the so-called social stratification. Stratification refers to the process of grouping people into different groups based on specific criteria, leading to the growth of a hierarchical structure. According to the scholarly work of Soekanto (2018), the idea of society can be understood through the perspective of a closed or open coating system. In a system marked as ‘closed’, everyone encounters major difficulties when they try to move across different social levels, regardless of whether their goal is towards success or downward drop (Eyitayo & Oyakola, 2020). In an open system, the existence of bigger possibilities enables humans to participate in activities with the goal of improving their social status. The presence of this condition implies an excellent chance for social advancement in the future. In societies defined by open systems, the role of education in facilitating social advancement is of top priority. The more educated people are, the better their chances of improving their social status.
