The study aims to investigate how the utilization of ChatGPT exerts influence
\ntowards the academic writing abilities of Grade 11 students of Holy Family Academy. Given that ChatGPT’s ability is to provide individualized feedback and increase engagement, the research attempts to determine whether it improves or hinders students’ writing skills using quantitative analysis. This was established for the reason that the convergence of new technologies, particularly AI, has significantly impacted society and education. AI technology, particularly ChatGPT, is revolutionizing the writing field, particularly for students, by aiding in content creation and editing (Hz, 2023). This phenomenon made it crucial to examine the ways in which AI fosters students’ creativity and writing abilities (Wang et al., 2022). Accentuating upon this, the study sought to address gaps in previous studies and promote ethical AI usage in education through a cross- sectional research as it aimed to quantify differences in writing performance from prior and subsequent ChatGPT usage. This study is under Probability Sampling and, Simple Random Sampling Technique was used.
\nAccording to the results obtained, there was a slight difference observed with respect to gender representation, wherein 56.5% of the participants were female and 43.5% were male. Moreover, the pre-test results indicated a mean score of 29.7 with a standard deviation of 4.87, while the post-test mean score was 26.8 with a standard deviation of 4.84. Notably, the findings revealed that the pre-test score was slightly higher than the post-test score, indicating a significant difference between the two tests. Overall, based on the data analysis, the researchers has reached a conclusive determination that subsequent to the implementation of ChatGPT, there has been a discernible reduction in scores, indicating a significant difference between the scores of the two tests. The study finds no correlation between respondents’ academic writing abilities and their use of ChatGPT. In light of this, the suggestions resulting from the data analysis include increasing the size of the sample, conducting long-term studies to compare ChatGPT with traditional methods, integrating strategies and ethical standards, examining feedback mechanisms, and performing additional qualitative studies afterwards.<\/p>\n
