(2021), students preferentially absorb and process information in diverse ways. knowledge of teachers on the learners’ preferred learning styles plays a pivotal role in better teaching and learning processes, contributing to a better- quality education. According to Zuckiply (n.d.), metacognition refers to the ability to think about, understand and manage one’s learning. Metacognition includes knowledge about learning and about oneself as a learner, and the skills of monitoring and regulating one’s own cognitive processes. With that, metacognition means thinking about the student’s own learning. It helps with planning how to learn, checking your progress, and then deciding if your learning strategy worked.<\/p>\n
Rivas (2022) states that it is known that learning quality improves when students apply metacognition. Students’ ability to use strategies that help them direct their motivation toward action in the direction of the meta-proposal is a central aspect to keep at the front of our minds when considering education (Rivas, 2022). According to Stanton et al. (2021), students with well-developed metacognition can identify concepts they do not understand and select appropriate strategies for learning those concepts. They can evaluate their strategies and adjust their plans based on the outcomes.
