Everyone wants to find something in which they are really good at and participating in extracurricular activities is one way to help them get involved, develop their self-esteem, and self-confidence in line with their interests.
\nExtra means “on the outside” and curriculum means “a running, course, and career defined by the vocabulary.com. These specific events are activities that do not fall within the scope of a regular curriculum according to the Merriam Webster: Dictionary and Thesaurus. Extracurricular activities are events organized particularly by other schools. These activities include academics, sports, performing arts, and other clubs that cater the interests of students. Examples of an extracurricular activity under performing arts are Dance, Singing, Junk-art, Film- Making, and Battle of the Bands Interschool Competitions. Students undergo holistic development by joining such activities. These activities provide positive opportunities for personal and social growth and development. Students’ future is also supported by these activities because these will guide them on which track or path they will take. These activities allow the students to apply what they have learned from their experiences. Students can also develop skills such as working skills, learning skills, and people skills. It also allow the students to acquire traits such as socially responsible leadership skills.
\nSchools are expected to help their students learn academic, social, and community awareness and responsibilities. As stated in 1987 Philippine Constitution, ARTICLE XIV Section 2(1) the state shall: establish, maintain, and support a complete, adequate, and integrated system of education relevant to the needs of the people society. This means that the students of this country are expected to acquire different knowledge and skills needed to support the country in the future.
\nExtracurricular activities are voluntary which means that the school does not force the students to participate. In Holy Family Academy, it is the school’s mission to form the students not only with their faith and academics but also with their skills. Students should be able to find an extracurricular that suits their talents, interests, and passions.
