Smartphones have recently been a staple for many people of the modern technological era. It may be used for leisure, work, and many more. With that, its frequent use would dictate its need for a more efficient and convenient power source. Waste-heat, specifically body heat, can be an alternate source if harnessed properly. Thus, the researchers attempted to collect body heat with the use of Thermoelectric Generators (TEGS) following the Seebeck and Peltier Effect and reach a certain voltage to charge a smartphone. This was done either through a parallel connection of multiple tiles or through the use of a boost converter. The results showed that three Peltier tiles connected in parallel only released a voltage of 17.33mV in a ventilated room and 22.5mV on an air-conditioned room. The use of an inductor either decreased in voltage, due to the current traveling farther or reversed the polarity, because of a magnetic core. A custom boost converter also lacked the necessary energy from the files to activate the transistor and reach the load. It can be then said that the use of body heat for energy is still in its early stages.
