With the recent implementation of the K to 12 curricula at Holy Family Academy, the grading system has greatly been affected by the substantial role of collaborative tasks on a student’s academic standing. Due to the alarming issue of the increased absences and tardiness amongst the Senior High School students, which mostly resulted from accomplishing the said collaborative works, the productivity of the individuals is not fully utilized as they spend less time attending their classes to complete the assigned tasks given to them. To resolve this current issue that affects the academic system and formation of students, the researchers took on a phenomenological study that focuses on the perception of the learners on their productivity towards collaborative work in contrast with individual work, through the process of in-depth interviews, with semi-structured inquiries for the acquisition of more equal and natural responses. As the findings and interpretations suggested, it has been identified that students have a generally unchanged perception of their productivity by the comparison of collaborative work as opposed to individual work. As a benefit, group work was seen as a source of improvement to one’s skills and abilities, although it also negatively disables learners from achieving potential efficacy due to the dependency of the other members consisting in the group, considering the present factor of heterogeneous sectioning affecting their perspectives.
