Japan, the cleanest country in the world, practices “O-soji” which means big cleanup. However, the Philippines has a similar culture yet why isn’t the Philippines on par with Japan in the context of cleanliness? This phenomenological study aims to ascertain the behavior of students towards school practices and how they apply these in a real-world context. Combination and purposive sampling techniques were employed to obtain 10 participants. Data and results were collected through interviews. The findings revealed that the students tend to follow these practices for the sake of their grades. They tend to be conscious because they are being monitored for the actions they make. Still, the hidden agenda for these practices is that students are mindful of the environment and are trained for the future. Rooted in the results is that most respondents have the perception that the school practice may be a forced act yet is beneficial for one’s betterment not only for themselves but also to society, especially at home.
