Being well-read is a very important skill that is greatly needed in the workplace. Students who are well-read are those who spend time reading books not just because reading is required but also because they choose to read for various reasons.
\nSocioeconomic status in terms of income directly affects the availability of books for students. Those who came from well-off families can provide their children books while those who do not state otherwise. Well-read students do not just read to be entertained, but they’re also motivated to read because they want to acquire the benefits of being well-read. Being well-read entails proficiency and confidence. These are two advantages of being well-read. Well-read students became proficient because they have become more knowledgeable, they have developed a wider vocabulary, they are able to comprehend reading and write essays easily, they are familiar with complex words, and are more fluent in speaking the English language. They became confident because they have the skill which is needed in the workplace – skills that are not easily gained in school but are gained through extensive reading. These are most of the skills that make up successful college students and employees.
