Student-athletes face a unique set of challenges and circumstances as they move from grade school to high school students. Moreover, it is important to take time to examine their different motivation to accomplish their academic and athletic performance. Motivation is a way for student-athlete to exceed expectations on playing the field as evidence of their abilities. The purpose of the study is to identify what are their ways of performing, how can these affect their performance, and what helps them to go further with their task. In this study, the researchers examine their motivation through conducting a one-on-one interview with 10 chosen student-athlete of grade 11 from Holy Family Academy. The researchers use a grounded theory design to gather the perception of student-athletes from Holy Family Academy regarding their motivation in athletics and academic performance. They also used a constant comparative method to make a more organized data collection. The researchers transcribed their answers and coded them after they had finished their interviews and come up with these findings: 1) student athletes’ problems: academics, and considerations of their teachers; 2) the influence of their loved ones and friends; 3) student-athletes excel with their performances. In addition, the researchers found out that through the help of their loved ones and goal-setting motivators, students athlete can accomplish the life challenges that stop them from aiming their goals. These findings support the student-athlete in accomplishing his\/her goal in both academic and athletic performance.
